MORE FEAR: The Final Call Opens in Brooklyn

Brooklyn photographers Akintola Hanif and Jamel Shabazz display work depicting the lives of America’s neglected in new exhibit.

The Gallery at Harriet’s Alter Ego hosts MORE FEAR: The Final Call, a visual diary of the finest and most nadir moments of a people neglected, featuring work by Brooklyn photographers Akintola Hanif and Jamel Shabazz. The show will run from April 8 - May 4, 2007 with an opening reception on Sunday, April 8, from 3:00PM - 6:00PM.

The Planet of Brooklyn

Akintola Hanif’s work “No Religion” will be included in “3rd Wave: The Planet of Brooklyn Transitions”, a group exhibit focusing on the gentrification of Brooklyn. Sponsored by the Brooklyn Arts Council and curated by Phillip Harvey of Nat Creole Magazine, the show runs from October 13, 2006 - January 14, 2007.

Giving Back to the Community

With the completion of 2 short films and 1 PSA, Akintola Hanif used his time this summer to demonstrate a commitment to the children of his community. Black Harvest International Festival of Film and Video to Screen “Freedom or Everybody Dies”

Akintola Hanif’s innovative short film, Freedom or Everybody Dies will be screened at the 12th Annual Black Harvest International Festival of Film and Video. Presented by the Gene Siskel Film Center, the festival is Chicago?s annual showcase for films that probe and celebrate black culture worldwide. “Freedom or Everybody Dies” will be screened as part of the shorts program “Urban Visions” on Saturday, August 12 at 6:00PM.
